DUI/Risk Reduction Program

The Georgia Department of Driver's Services (DDS) regulates the DUI Alcohol or Drug Use Risk Reduction Program (RRP), also more commonly referred to as DUI schools.

 

Approved Driving School's DUI/Risk Reduction program is DDS certified, and court approved to meet the requirements mandated by law for people convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI), possession of illegal drugs, underage possession of drugs or alcohol while operating a motor vehicle or Boating Under the Influence (BUI) and must be completed before his/her driver's license can be reinstated.

Georgia's Impaired Driving Laws & Penalties
First Offense

  • Possible jail time of up to one year

  • Fine of $300 - $1,000

  • License suspension for up to one year

  • Minimum of 40 hours of mandatory community service

  • Pay a driver's license reinstatement fee of $210

Georgia's Impaired Driving Laws & Penalties
Second Offense within Five Years of First Offense

  • Minimum mandatory 48 hours in jail, possible 90 days to one year

  • Fine of $600 - $1,000

  • License suspension of three years

  • Minimum of 30 days of mandatory community service

  • Pay a driver's license reinstatement fee of $210 

  • Mandatory clinical evaluation and, if indicated, completion of a substance abuse treatment program at the offender's expense

Georgia's Impaired Driving Laws & Penalties
Third Offense within Five Years of Second Offense

  • Fine of $1,000 - $5,000

  • License revocation for five years

  • Minimum of 30 days of mandatory community service

  • Violator's name, photo, and address published in the local newspaper at violator's expense

  • Declared as a habitual violator, the license plate for his/her vehicle will be seized by the court and forwarded to the Department of Motor Vehicle Safety (DMV)

  • Face a mandatory clinical evaluation and, if indicated, completion of substance abuse treatment program at the offender's expense

Registration & Fees

When registering for this course, a 130-question in person assessment about you and your lifestyle must be completed before the first day of class.

 

Online 20-hours Course (2 1/2 days)

The program regulator forbids late entry to any session.

Friday Class: 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday Class: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

DUI/RRP Course $360 (20-hour course fee: $235, assessment fee: $100, program materials fee: $25). The fees are set by the state.
